A Message from Mayor David A. Taylor
 

It is with great pleasure we make available this website regarding the City of Amherst.

Amherst is a unique community in that we highlight Main Street Amherst, the revitalization of downtown, a highly regarded library, a very active historical society, top-notch safety forces and service departments, and a first class school system.  Our parks provide natural walking trails, soccer fields, a community swimming pool, park shelters, a playground and a community meeting room, all of which enrich the lives of our residents.  We also have many social and service clubs and numerous churches that contribute to the betterment of our City.

Our City officials work hard to maintain planned growth for our City and still keep the quaint atmosphere that we possess.  Your city has a long proven tradition of being a good place to bring up a family and enjoy a full quality of life.  I am honored to serve you as Mayor and am committed in making Amherst a city in which we are all proud.
